This has been achieved without taking away from the history of Salvin House, which retains many of its original period features to ensure a unique holiday experience. The tastefully designed living room for instance has a rustic wood burner embedded into the Georgian fireplace, Chesterfield sofas and a Sky TV. With a selection of board games to play, books to read and movies to watch, Salvin House provides fantastic evening entertainment for all the family.
Bright and contemporary, the large kitchen has all the appliances needed to cook delicious meals, with a range cooker and American fridge freezer, the owner has provided the utmost quality which is a step above any other Alston self catering accommodation.
Accommodating up to eight guests in four beautifully furnished bedrooms; two double rooms and two single rooms. Each bedroom has storage and unique colour schemes, and two of the bedrooms have retained their original fireplaces.

The Local Area
Cottage breaks in Alston are becoming increasingly popular as more and more holiday makers hear about the many stunning countryside walking routes and eclectic range of visitor attractions which can easily be reached from the town.
This is a quaint and historic market town which is tucked away in the heart of the North Pennines; an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Whilst staying in Salvin House you will enjoy easy access to five nearby traditional pubs, a range of restaurants and convenient stores. You will also be encompassed by scenic surroundings whereby you can explore either by foot or bike.
The South Tyne footpath is not far from the front door, taking you and your four-legged friend on a trail through picturesque landscapes. You can then travel back to Salvin House by train using the fantastic South Tynedale Railway that is also dog friendly.
A couple of beautiful waterfalls are within 30 miles of Salvin House, the most popular being the Ashgill Force Waterfall and High Force Waterfall both provide a great day out with the family exploring the hidden gems that Cumbria has to offer.
